I’m studying law at university, sounds great, doesn’t it? However, whilst you may have heard a little about studying law, it's difficult to know what it really does involve – and there’s no shortage of stories out there, from the mostly accurate to the unbelievable.

Through my website I want to share with you my university journey revealing the ‘ups’ and ‘downs’ of a scary and some what exciting four years. Scary in the sense that it's nearly forty years since I was in a classroom environment. Through my posts, pictures and videos I want you to share with me and meet my fellow students as we grapple with the subject of law.

Why choose law?

My life has been a unique journey resulting in the nurturing of a deep interest in the subject of law and a desire to study the subject at undergraduate level. Law as a subject is absorbing, and I find myself fascinated how it's developed and adapted to meet the needs of our changing society.

My website will share with you an insight in to the ‘highs’ and ‘lows’ of my life and the events that have helped to shape and make me the person I am today. From the community I grew up in, through work and other achievements including against all odds gaining my pilots licence. To the places, businesses, people and charities I love to support.

Today current affairs reveal the many devastating conflicts that consume people’s lives. I've been a witness to countless misjudgements which has only served my desire to support institutions that help to bring equality. I believe the law allows society to maintain a process of social order and therefore impacts on us all. I want to share my enthusiasm for the subject especially how it impacts and helps to resolve these conflicts.

Gaining a formal qualification in law and then acting as an advocate to help my favourite charities will be my eventual goal. It will also be an opportunity to witness directly how my degree could have an impact on the lives of others. I acknowledge my strengths, weaknesses and limitations. However, I hope I will cope with academic life. I might not be the brightest ‘button’ on the course or the quickest when it comes to delivering course work. However, I do have a commitment and eagerness to learn. I hope to bring a depth to student life based on my life experiences, and in return I look forward to learning many new ones from my student friends.
